Ryan Sheckler Offers SUV to Biggest Fund-Raiser


Ryan Sheckler is offering his Range Rover to the person who can raise the most money for cancer research. Sheckler has partnered his Sheckler Foundation with Children's Cancer Research Fund for the 2008 Kids4Kids 5K Run/Walk. Sheckler will personally hand over the keys to the most successful fund-raiser. The event is set to take place in Los Angeles on April 27.

Barry Manilow is Giving Instruments to Local California Schools


Barry Manilow is pledging over $250,000 worth of musical instruments to the public middle and high schools surrounding Palm Springs in a bid to give students the same opportunities he received in his high school music class.
The Copacabana King said in a public statement in January, “When I got into high school, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. Then I hit the music class and I felt like I was on solid ground. I made friends… I learned how to work with other students and my grades went up in all the other classes because I had more confidence. It was the music class that did it for me.”

Charlton Heston Dies at 84


Legendary actor Charlton Heston died on April 5th at his home. Although Heston was known for his amazing roles in epic movies, many do not know of his epic charitable work. Besides supporting different environmental charities, Heston was involved in the civil rights movement. The Oscar winner also joined protests and later accompanied Martin Luther King on marches in 1963.

According to People Magazine, "Charlton had made an announcement of his Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2002 and had very much retired from public life."

American Idol Gives Back




American Idol is producing their very successful television special, Idol Gives Back. The show which airs on April 9th, has producers expecting this year’s event to raise over $100 million for charity. Stars who will be appearing on the show are: Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, plus many more. According to the Idol website the six charities that will benefit from this years event are The Children's Defense Fund, Children's Health Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More, and Save the Children.
